The German organist and choral conductor, Helmut Föller, received his first organ lessons from Professor Rosalinde Haas in Frankfurt, and studied church nusic, music education, Catholic theology and musicology
at the Universität Mainz. In 1982 he obtained the APrüfung for church music; in 1989, he passsed the first state exam for the teaching at secondary schools, and in 2000 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the topic "BACH Verarbeitungen eines Motivs in der Orgelmusik des 19. Jahrhunderts" (BACH - processing
a motif in the organ music of the 19th century). Conducting courses with Helmuth Rilling in Frankfurt and Stuttgart completed his musical and practical training.
From 1982 to 1992, Helmut Föller was organist and choirmaster at St. Leonhard in Frankfurt; from 1992 to 2002, organist and District Kantor at the St. Marien-Kirche in Bad Homburg. After this he two years of tachinh church music at the Philosophisch-Theologischen Hochschule St. Georgen in Frankfurt, he was appointed there as lecturer. He is also active at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt. |
