The Dutch bass-baritone singer and organist, Janko Fraanje, has been an organist at the Grote Kerk in Leerdam since 1997, and has been a cantor organist since 2002.
Janko Fraanje is also active as a bass singer. The interpretation of the works of
J.S. Bach plays a central role in this. In addition to frequent performances of cantatas, he can also be heard in the major oratorios of
J.S. Bach, including Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Mass in B minor (BWV 232). He also frequently works as a soloist on performances of works by other early music composerss, such as the Kleine geistliche Konzerte by
Heinrich Schütz, Historia di Jephte by Giacomo Carissimi, Membra Jesu Nostri by
Dietrich Buxtehude and the Messiah by
George Frideric Handel; and by composers from more recent times. For example, he performed the Christ part in Passion of our Lord according to St. Mark by Charles Wood, The Crucifixoin by John Stainer and the Requiem by
Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé.
Janko Fraanje has collaborated with the conductors Bas Ramselaar, Hanz Linnartz, Niels Kuijers, Boudewijn Jansen and many others. As an ensemble singer he sang with Adrián Rodriquez van der Spoel and Enrique Lopez Corton, Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2005 and 2006. In 2008 he took part in a master-class polyphony with the Capella Sancta Maria and Paul van Nevel. Since 2012 he has been singing with Ribattuta Musica under the direction of Dick Duijst. |
