The Croatian conductor and educator, Igor Gjadrov, is studied conducting with Milan Horata at the Music Academy in Zagreb, graduating in 1953. He then attended the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he studied with Fernanda Previtalija from 1955 to 1956 and obtained his Master's Degree.
Igor Gjadrov has conducyed over a thousand concerts in his homeland and many European countries. Since 1957 he managed the Community Orchestra of the Croatian Bureau, and from 1994. to 2004 the Academic String Orchestra Society of Music Artists in Maribor.
Igor Gjadrov began his a pedagogical work in 1958 as Assistant Professor, since 1966 Associate, and since 1977 Professor at the Music Academy in Zagreb, where he was also three times Dean (1971, 1977, 1979) and Dean from 1987 to 1991. He was also Vice Chancellor at the University of Zagreb from 1989 to 1991. In 2003 he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus. He raised a number of musicians, participated in numerous competition juries and other professional and artistic forums, particularly the activity developed by working with young people and leading youth orchestras.
Igor Gjadrov has received many awards and accolades. He is the author of the book the art of conducting (Zagreb, 2002 .). |
