The Serbian-American harpsichordist. conductor and baritone singer, Predrag Gosta, started exploring music at the age of 6 through initially studying violin, and later continuing training in voice, harpsichord and conducting at the Belgrade Music Academy. While pursuing his postgraduate studies at Trinity College of Music in London, Gosta founded New Trinity Baroque, which was immediately noticed for its lively and captivating performances. He also holds a triple Master of Music degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, where he concentrates most of his time with the group in concert performances and presenting lectures.
Predrag Gosta is the Artistic Director of an early music ensemble, Baroque orchestra and choir New Trinity Baroque, based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, the Music Director and conductor of the Gwinnett Ballet Theatre in Duluth (metropolitan Atlanta), the Principal Guest Conductor of the New Europe Symphony Orchestra in Bulgaria, and the President of the international early music society Early Music Network. From 1991 to 1996 he was the Artistic Director of the Studio for Early Music Belgrade and the Belgrade International Early Music Festival, as well as since its renewal in 2012. Between 2008 and 2009 he was the Assistant Conductor of the National Philharmonic in Washington, D.C.. Since 2010 he is the President of the Makris Foundation in Washington D.C. He is also an Artistic Advisor and U.S. Director of Peter the Great Music Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. Since 2013 he is the Artistic Director of the Belgrade Baroque Academy, together with the famous Serbian contralto Marijana Mijanovic.
Predrag Gosta has gained experince in historical performance practice through working closely with many experienced early music artists, including English soprano Emma Kirkby, American soprano Julianne Baird, British violinist John Holloway, Baroque harpist Andrew Lawrence-King, lutenists Anthony Rooley and Michael Fields, Dutch recorder virtuoso Marion Verbruggen, British harpsichordist Steven Devine, Polish mezzo-soprano Magdalena Wór and others. With the English soprano Evelyn Tubb he has been collaborating in numerous projects. Described by the critics as "an artist of dynamic temperament and impeccable expression" (Radio Television Belgrade), he has been featured on both the concert and the operatic stage equally as a conductor, vocal soloist, and harpsichordist. He has performed at numerous festivals, including the Boston and Amherst Early Music Festivals, Dartington International Summer School in England, and the Belgrade International Early Music Festival in Yugoslavia..
Predrag Gosta has recorded several critically acclaimed CD’s, including recording of Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas with British soprano Evelyn Tubb. He was the affiliate guest lecturer at Georgia State University, and choir professor and artist-in-residence at Oxford College of Emory University |
