The English pianist, conductor and music teacher Evlyn Howard-Jones, studied at the Royal college of Music, and became a pupil of Eugen d'Albert (in Germany). His teachers included also: Franklin Taylor, Benno Schönberger and Ernst Jedliczka
Evlyn Howard-Jones made his dedut in 1908, playing Johannes Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 conducted by Sir Henry J. Wood. In 1914, he married the violinist Grace Thynne (1873-1952). He played contemporary music. f.i. of Frederick Delius and Cyril Scott, who dedicated compositions to him. In 1920, he played with the London String Quartet a piano quintet from Cyril Scott, dedicated to him. He was the first conductor of the New Symphony Orchestra in 1905. He taught at the Royal college of Music and had an own piano school in London. |
