The German tenor, Thomas Jakobs, studied singing for his first and second degrees under Professor Thomas Dewald in Mainz. He has regularly performed as a singer in operas and oratorios, and also as an actor. He has participated in master-classes in Reinsberg (singing) and in Tuscany (acting).
Thomas Jakobs performed the role of Tamino and Monastatos in a children’s production of W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Mainz State Theatre, and in a staged version of Monteverdi’s Eighth Book of Madrigals. His repertoire includes many operas from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, as well as Lieder by Schubert, Wolf and Robert Schumann, as well as contemporary works such as Stabat Matar by Arvo Pärt. Since the 2004-2005 season, he has been singing with the Youth Group of the Mainz State Theatre. He has performed in the opera, Les Violoneaux by Offenbach, at the Offenbach Festival in Bad Ems, as well as in the opera, Proserpina by J.M. Kraus under the baton of Christoph Spering. He is a member of Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering), Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck) and Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius). He currently lives in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. |
