The German soprano, Almut Krumbach, studied at the Musikhochschule "Franz Liszt" in Weimar choral and orchestral conducting, as well as singing with Siegfried Gohritz and Eugen Rabine and Lied with Wolf Reinhold. She received additional training with well-known voice teachers as KS Elisabeth Breul, Hans-Joachim Beyer, Venceslava Hruba-Freiberger, Heidi Petzold, Helga Termer, Giovanni Anaya, Claudio Nicolai, Barbara Schlick, and international master-classes at the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Norman Shetler, Helena Lazarska), at the Bachakademie Stuttgart (Klesie Kelly, Ingeborg Danz, Helmuth Rilling), at Burg Beeskow (Jutta Schlegel, Rolf Riemer), at the Steglitzer Tagen für Alte Musik (Egon Mihailovic), and at ”L'Accademia d'Amore" Bremen (Stephen Stubbs, Erin Headley). Almut Krumbach participated in international competitions in Merano, Passau, Leipzig, Pörtschach and the National Vocal Competition.
Almut Krumbach has gained her theatrical experience in high school productions and opera academies, the Bühnenpraktika an Oper und Schauspiel Leipzig, and the Opernstudio Nürnberg, and in professional dramatic work with directors such as Wolfgang Engel, Stefan Herheim, Roger Hyams, Eleonora Fuser, Hendrik Müller, Thomas M. Zipf, Vera Nemirova and Peter Konwitschny.
Since 1992, Almut Krumbach is dedicated to solo and chamber music concerts, operas, church music, recitals and musical, literary and theatrical programs. She deals extensively with contemporary music, has worked with the EnsembleUnited Berlin (Peter Hirsch) and 10 years with the ars-nova-ensemble Berlin, sang several premieres, and performed main roles, for example, at the Munich Biennale for New Music Theater 2002.
Almut Krumbach has special affinity for Baroque music and Baroque opera. This led to many years of work with the Dresdner Kammerchor (Hans-Christoph Rademann), Ensemble Alte Musik Dresden (CD production), the Collegium Vocale Gent (Philippe Herreweghe) and Lautten Compagney Berlin (Wolfgang Katschner), etc. Her repertoire encompasses songs, arias, concert literature, opera roles of all periods to the present, also musical, songs, chansons, jazz, experimental, improvisation. |
