The Duch choral conductor and organist, Gerard Leegwater, studied organ, church music and choral conducting at Alkmaar Conservatory. He also studied musicology at the University of Utrecht, where he graduated in 1993.
Gerard Leegwater conducts five choirs and as cantor-organist at the Witte Kerk in Heiloo. He regularly performs as a soloist, accompanist and is part of several music ensembles. He was and is involved in the performance of many oratorios, cantatas and choral works. His field crossed the border. He has performed in Germany, France, Britain, Russia and Poland.
Gerard Leegwater was hired in 2009 and in 2010 as conductor of the TV (partly) broadcast performance of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by Dutch celebrities (Hind, Jim Bakkum, Peter Lusse, Rob de Nijs and Carola Smit in 2009; Thomas Berge, Ellen ten Damme, Jette van der Meij and Antonie Kamerling in 2010). |
