The Orchestra Matutina, founded by Matej Šarc, has been working for many years, performing mainly musical works of older periods, primarily Baroque and early Classicism. In recent performance seasons of the Matutina Sunday matinees cycle at the Slovenska Filharmonija in Ljubljana, the orchestra has performed many masterpieces that have been underperformed in Slovenia. They paid particular attention to the historical interpretation and sonority, partly enriching them with the use of historical instruments. The ensemble focused mainly on J.S. Bach's works (Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Cantatas, Brandenburg Concertos BWV 1046-1051 and other concert pieces) and several other influential composers, such as the concert version of the opera Orfeo ed Euridice by Ch. W. Gluck. |
