The Amrerican choral conductor, soprano singer and music teacher, Sally Messner, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Valparaiso University (1998-2002); and her Master of Sacred Music degree in Conducting from Luther Seminary (2002-2007).

Sally Messner has been self-employed soprano, conductor and teacher in Dexter, Michigan since November 2006 and freelance editor from January 2006 to June 2016. She is the Director of Music for the Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University (since 2022). She was also Director of Worship and Music at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livonia, Michigan (April 2020-Jun 2023), where she plannned and led congregational singing with organ, piano, voice, and a variety of other instruments. She is also founding musical director of the Elm Ensemble (since September 2010), a liturgical project that brings together professional and amateur musicians with great sacred music and creative worship planning to help keep the church in dialogue with diverse voices from Christian history. Currently, she is also Director of Worship and Music at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis (since June 2023), reponsible for Choral Conducting, Religious Education, Cross-team Collaboration, Worship Leadership, Public Speaking. |
