David Milne (Choral Conductor)

Born: Ireland

The Irish choral conductor, David Milne, was Musical Director of the Trinity Collge Doblin Singers (1970-1973), the University of Dublin Choral Society and the Gaudete Singers in Dublin. He has been Musical Director of the Guinness Choir in Dublin since 1991, succeeding John Dexter. Under his inspirational direction it has grown in stature and renown, both in Ireland and abroad. He has conducted notable performances of works by Machaut, Tallis, J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L.v. Beethovenn, Berlioz, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Verdi, Gabriel Fauré, Edward Elgar, Herbert Howells and Benjamin Britten, and premieres of works by Sweeney, Edmondson, Wilson, Part, Boydell and Adams.

David Milne was Director of Music at Parish of Saint Bartholomew in Dublin from 1970 to 1985. He taught at St. Columbas College. He is now Head of the flourishing music department at Kilkenny College.
