Patrícia Modesto (Soprano)

Born: Faro, Portugal

The Portuguese soprano, Patrícia Modesto, began her vocal studies at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, in Manuela de Sá's singing class. In 2019, he completed his Master's Degree in Music Education - Singing, at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (2014-2017), under the guidance of Luís Madureira, obtaining the highest grade in the presentation of his thesis on the influence of lyrical singing on the practice of other musical genres. Throughout her career, she has carried out interpretation and vocal improvement work in improvement classes with: Marcin Koziel, João Paulo Santos, David Santos, Lucia Lemos, Isabel Alcobia, Elisabete Matos, Gabriele Fontana, Lucia Mazzaria and Christian Hilz. In a competition, she received 1st Prize in the Concurso de Canto dos Conservatórios Oficiais de Música in 2016. Also that year, she participated in the Concurso da Cidade de Almada in the singing category where he won 3rd Prize and Best Interpretation of Portuguese Music.

Of the operatic repertoire Patrícia Modesto has performed, the roles of Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (2023), Dido” and 2nd Woman in Dido and Aeneas, Servilia in W.A. Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, Lucy in Treemonisha, Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann, Zerlina and Donna Anna in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (2019, 2024) and Serpina in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La serva padrone. In concert and oratorio she performed as soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah, G.B. Pergolesi's Stabat Mater; Carl Orff's Carmina Burana; Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël, António Leal Moreira's Concertata Mass, among others.

Patrícia Modesto has participated in numerous concerts in Portugal and abroad, including her recital “Emoções de Mulher” presented live on Antena 2, her participation in the Cistermusica and OPERAFEST Lisboa festivals and G.F. Handel's Messiah, directed by Rolf Beck, at the Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth, a concert in which he received excellent reviews, highlighting his voice as “well-formed, powerful and impressive”.

Since July 2017, Patrícia Modesto has also worked as a singing/voice teacher. She has taught at Agrupamento de Escolas da Bemposta (September 2020-2022) and at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa (since September 2024).
