This Belgian soprano, Sarah Van Mol, grew up in a warm nest full of music. Her grandpa built all kinds of instruments himself and the grandchildren gave unforgettable concerts there. Sarah herself studied piano and organ and discovered her love for singing. She studied at Dé Kunsthumaniora A'pen, graduating in 1996. In June 2001 she completed her master training in singing at the Koninklijk Vlaams Muziekconservatorium (Royal Flemish Music Conservatory) in Antwerp in the class of Bernadette Degelin. She has attended master-classes with Robert Alderson, Susan Roper, Guy de Mey and Gidon Saks. Currently she is being coached by Diane Forlano.
Since then Sarah Van Mol has been a welcome guest at performances of George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248). She also sang the Requiems by Johannes Brahmss, Gabriel Fauré and Vic Nees, Stabat Mater by Scarlatti and Dvorak, various Masses by W.A. Mozart and the role of Juliette in the operetta Der Graf von Luxemburg by F. Léhar. With the ensemble Euterpe Baroque Consort (Director: Bart Rodyns), where she is a permanent soloist, she can heard in works by Monteverdi, Carissimi and their contemporaries.
Sarah Van Mol lend her support to numerous CD recordings, including with organist and father Jan Van Mol. For the Vlaams Radio Koor she sang the soprano solos during recordings with music by J.S. Bach, Sergei Rachmaninov and Johan Duijck. She also had the honor to sing at the funeral of, among others, Queen Fabiola, Jean-Luc Dehaene, Jos Ghysen, Jan Hoet and Jos Chabert.
As an ensemble singer, Sarah Van Mol is permanently connected to the Vlaams Radio Koor and regularly sings with other professional ensembles, including Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), De Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven), Gli Angeli Genève (Director: Stephan MacLeod), Cappella Mariana Prague, La Chapelle Harmonique Paris, Ensemble BachPlus (Director: Bart Naessens), Currende (Director: Erik Van Nevel), Psallentes, Utopia, Encantar and Oltremontano.
