The Italian conductor, pianist and vocal coach, Eddi De Nadai, received his diplomas in Pianoforte and Harpsichord at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice, Italy; then went on to study the Vocal Repertory with Erik Werba in Vienna and at Carpi Vocal Chamber Music Festival. He studied Orchestral Conducting at the Accademia Europea di Vicenza with Romolo Gessi and at Berliner Meisterkurse with Lior Shambadal and the Berliner Symphoniker Chamber Orchestra, and with Deyan Pavlov in Sophia. In 2007 he won an international audition for Coaches at the Fondazione Arena inVerona.
From 2000 to 2004 Eddi De Nadai was responsible for the coaching of the Italian repertory at the State Opera in Izmir, Turkey, where he was also guest conductor. He takes his place as an orchestra conductor after a long period of experience as vocal Coach in several theatres: in Italy, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Sociale in Trento, Teatro Lirico – Sperimentale in Spoleto; in Germany, Staatsoper, Hannover; and the State Opera in Smirne, Turkey, where he also worked as Assistant to several conductors.
After his debut in the spring of 2003 with the Hungarian Symphonic Orchestra in Pécs, Hungary, Eddi De Nadai conducted a production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia and several operatic and symphonic concerts at the State Opera Theatre in Izmir, Turkey, where he returned upon invitation in 2004 to conduct Norma and Rigoletto. Since then he has conducted the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Mitteleuropea, Orchestra Sinfonica of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta ‘G. F. Malipiero’, Orchestra “Bruni” di Cuneo (Italy), Orquesta Sinfonica de Cordoba (Argentina), Slovenian RTV Symphony Orchestra, Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra (Kazakistan), Lubiana Opera Orchestra, Orquesta de Cordoba (Spain), Orchestra of Belgrade National Opera, State Philharmonic Orchestra of Transilvania, Chisinau Philharmonic Orchestra (Moldovia), Rumanian Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau, Philharmonic Orchestras of Kharkov, Chernivtsy, Lugansk, Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk (Ukraine), IKO Italia Orchestra, State Philharmonic Orchestra of Vidin (Bulgaria), Symphony Orchestra of Albanian Television, Orchestra of Tirana State Opera, Camerata of Tirana, Kiev String’s Orchestra, Friuli Venezia Giulia Chamber Orchestra and “Smyrna” Chamber Orchestra (Turkey), in operatic and symphonic programmes, working with soloists like the mezzo-soprano Luciana D’Intino, the cellist Rocco Filippini, the pianists Bruno Canino and Enrico Pieranunzi and many others.
In 2004 Eddi De Nadai conducted Rigoletto and in 2006 Don Pasquale at the Lyric Opera of Craiova, Rumania. In two long tours organized by the association Coordinamento Teatrale Trentino (Italy), he conducted Traviata in 2005 and Rigoletto in 2006. In 2006, to enthusiastic reviews, he conducted Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera at the Tirana State Opera, the first performance ever in Albania, and Nabucco with Teatro Lirico Europeo Opera Company (Italian tour 2007). Again at Tirana State Opera he conducted Norma in 2009 and Elisir d’amore in 2012.
In May 2008 Eddi De Nadai conducted a Gala - Concert at Tashkent Opera “Puccini Festival” (Uzbekistan). At Tashkent Bolshoi Theater for Opera and Ballet, where he has been the main guest conductor from 2009 till 2013, he conducted L’Elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Traviata, Rigoletto and La Bohème. In May 2010 he had his debut in Japan, conducting the Mozart Aniversary Orchestra at Hoya Komorebi Hall in Tokyo. In 2009 he conducted Il Trovatore in the summer Italian tour of IKO Italia (7 performances, one of them in the famous Roman Ancient Theater of Ostia Antica - Rome).
Recently Eddi De Nadai conducted Ghedini’s Concerto dell’Albatro with the Symphony Orchestra of Albanian State Television and the soloists Suela Piciri violin, Rocco Filippini cello and Bruno Canino piano. In 2012 he conducted Nabucco at Ljubljana State Opera (Slovenia), as the opening production of the season. In February 2013, he got an extraordinary success conducting the Orchestra and Choir of Belgrade National Opera, with a program dedicated to Verdi’s anniversary. Again a huge success he got with the Orquesta de Cordoba (Spain), described by critics as an “excellent interpretation offered through the prism of a direction attentive, articulate and measured”.
In July 2016 Eddi De Nadai conducted the world premiere of the opera Menocchio by Renato Miani at the opening night of 25° Mittelfest in Cividale del Friuli (Italy) and Madama Butterfly at 62nd Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago (Italy). At San Vito Summer Opera Festival (Friuli Venezia Giulia) he conducted Nabucco (2007), Il Trovatore (2009), L’Elisir d’amore (2010), Georges Bizet's Carmen (2011), Rigoletto (2012), Traviata (2013, Madama Butterfly (2014), La Bohème (2015), Aida (2016). In 2011 he conducted Cavalleria Rusticana at the well known Summer Opera Festival of Abbazia di Casamari (Italy) and in 2014 Tosca. In 2015 at Taormina Opera Stars (Sicily) he conducted Nabucco and Aida.
Eddi De Nadai is the Artistic Director of International Festival of Sacred Music - Pordenone, Musica Pura Association (Ensemble for the 20th century’s music), San Vito Summer Opera Festival. He is also the founder and Artistic Director of the educational program “All’Opera, ragazzi!” in Pordenone, dedicated to the musical theatre contemporary repertory for children.
Working with internationally known singers such as Luciana D’Intino, Katia Ricciarelli, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Leo Nucci, Maria Chiara, Daniela Mazzucato, Beniamino Prior, Eddi De Nadai has performed in important venues in Europe,Eastern Europe, the North Africa, the Near East, the United States and Japan.
Eddi De Nadai has taught courses on Italian Opera Repertory at Wesleyan College,Georgia,USA, and at the Conservatory inIzmir,Turkey, at Tirana Academy of Arts and for years he taught at the summer courses at the Spoleto Vocal Arts Symposium. He has also co-operated with Luciano Pavarotti for his master-classes in Modena. He is a piano teacher at Milan State Conservatory of Music and well requested vocal coach. Since 2016, he teache piano at the Conservatorio G. Verdi di Milano.
Eddi De Nadai has recorded several times for Italian (RAI), Albanian Television and Swedish and Rumanian radio. Playing four-hands with Franco Calabretto, he has recorded a CD of compositions by Gaetano Donizetti, and one of Parafrasi and Fantasie on Opera Themes by Franz Liszt, Thalberg, Carl Czerny for the label RivoAlto. For the label SicutSol, he has recorded a two piano version of Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. He currently lives in Milan, Italy. |
