The vocal and instrumental ensemble "Il Cantiere di Orfeo" was born within the Conservatorio “A. Vivaldi” di Alessandria, as a Baroque ensemble of the Inter-department of Musica Antica and as a result of the activity of the Inter-department itself.
In recent years the ensemble has been involved in important projects, such as C. Monteverdi's Orfeo, P. Cafaro's Stabat Mater, Navidad Barocca, J.S. Bach's Cantatas. It has also collaborated with the Academia Montis Regalis, considered today one of the best orchestral groups with ancient instruments at an international level, for the execution of various programs, also performing in the Academia Montis Regalis season in Mondovì and Asti.
The vocal and instrumental ensemble "Il Cantiere di Orfeo" is made up of students and teachers from the classes of Organ, Harpsichord, Renaissance and Baroque Singing, Recorder, Lute, Viola da Gamba, Baroque Violin, Viola and Cello. It takes its name from the concert season Il Cantiere di Orfeo, a review dedicated to the Baroque musical repertoire, both vocal and instrumental, performed on original instruments and is a group that has a variable geometry, depending on the repertoire and the necessary staff.
The “Il Cantiere di Orfeo” review benefits from the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino and has seen, during the year 2024, collaborations with illustrious guests such as Fabio Biondi (famous violinist and director, founder of Europa Galante, the most famous and most awarded Italian ensemble specialized in ancient music on an international level); Robert Barto (lute); Simone Ori (harpsichord), as well as important collaborations with the Conservatories of Torino, Novara and Latina. The presence of musicians of this caliber is yet another confirmation of the growing prestige of the Baroque ensemble of the Inter-department of Musica Antica del Conservatorio "A. Vivaldi".
During the 2024-2025 season, the students of the vocal and instrumental Ensemble "Il Cantiere di Orfeo" had the opportunity to perfect themselves with prestigious names in the Ancient Music scene and the city to listen to other evocative concerts that brought Baroque music to the Auditorium Pittaluga del Conservatorio as well as to some churches in Alessandria, Mondovì and Asti. |
