Pallidor is the pseudonym of the poet Georg Christian Lehms (1684-1717), who authored many of the texts used in J.S. Bach's cantatas. The ensemble, founded in 2023 by Alois Mühlbacher and Franz Farnberger, takes its name from this literary figure - signaling one of its core artistic missions: the vocal works of J.S. Bach. Pallidor’s first major project was the album "Bachkantaten: Broken Eyes", released in October 2025 and featuring two solo cantatas and selected arias by J.S. Bach.
The ensemble brings together outstanding specialists in early music. The experience and expertise of each musician are essential and highly valued. Depending on the requirements of the repertoire, the string section is expanded with wind instruments. Special attention is also given to the choice of continuo instruments. For this recording, in works requiring an obbligato organ, a large church organ was used—the Nelson organ in Schärding (Church of the Brothers of Mercy). Since this recording, the ensemble has broadened its repertoire in numerous concerts to include works by Antonio Vivaldi, George Frideric Handel and Purcell.
