The German baritone, Christian Palm, learned as a small boy to play the cello, and as a boy he sang in the Thomanerchor Leipzig. He studied medicine a few semesters before he began music-theatre studies at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. Since his graduation he has been a freelance singer and lives in Cologne. He works now with the baritone Michael Volle and the alto Ingeborg Danz.
After deciding to pursue a classical singer career, Christian Palm was engaged as a soloist at the Pocket Opera Company Nürnberg and the Jungen Oper Köln. He was also engaged at the opera houses in Wuppertal and Gelsenkirchen, and in spring 2007, at the Staatstheater Mannheim. His many travels include international activities as a concert singer, and he is also a singer in opera productions for children. In Cologne, he is also known to appear in 50 Jahre Kriegsende, Friedensmesse composed for his voice by Peter Bares, premiered at St. Peter and broadcasted live on the radio.
Christian Palm has appeared in important concert venues as Kölner Philharmonie, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Glocke Bremen, St. Ignazio Rome, Thomaskirche Leipzig, Philharmonie Danzig, and Meji Gakuin Tokyo. He has worked with renowned conductors, such as Hartmut Haenchen, Ralf Otto, Hermann Max, Patrick Davin, Georg-Christoph Biller, Helmuth Rilling, Peter Ruzicka, Wolfgang Seeliger, and Mary Sherburne. He has sung in Lieder recitals with pianist as Hedayet Djeddikar, Thomas Palm, Sebastian Plate, Juliane Ruf, David Serebrjanik, and Stephan Zilias.
His concert activities led him to Bachchor Mainz, the Aachener Bachverein, Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Philharmonie in Gdansk (Jesus, in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245) and the Musikfest Bremen in Die Glocke (Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem). In 2001, he gave a concert with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie as Jesus in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244). In 2006, he appeared at Bachfest Leipzig.
As a Lieder singer Christian Palm appeared at the Ludwigsburger Festspielen, at the Schloßkonzerten Sinzig, at the Gohliser Schlößchen in Leipzig, and at the Bachak Academy in Tokyo. He won the Cultural Prize of the "Unnaer Wirtschaft" for his interpretation of German Lieder.
