The American soprano and choral conductor and music pedagogue, Susanne Pecxke, studied at Umass amhers in Amherst, Massachusetts; Mozarteum University of Salzburg in Austria; and Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
Susanne Peck's career in music was centered in New York City and vicinity and encompasses the roles of singer, conductor and educator. An entertaining and versatile soprano, she has sung chamber and choral music with world-class colleagues, soloed, recorded and toured with many leading ensembles, including the Boston Early Music Festival, Mark Morris Dance Company, Orchestra of St. Luke's, Voices of Ascension, Concert Royal Baroque Opera Company, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Waverly Consort, New York Collegium, and Musica Sacra. She has also sung for Disney and was part of the soundtrack for Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas. She was a member of the New York Philharmonic Chorus and sang under Leonard Bernstein, Sir Colin Davis, Erich Leinsdorf, Roger Norrington, Zubin Mehta, to name a few. She has soloed with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and sung with Vermont's only professional a cappella ensemble Counterpoint under Robert De Cormier's direction. She has often appeared in recital --a favorite vehicle of performance-- throughout the Northeast, at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado and in Italy.
Also a choral conductor, Susanne Peck founded and directs the Renaissance ensemble Amaryllis, based in Middlebury. She founded Cerddorion Vocal Ensemble and Charis Chamber Voices, both strong choral presences in New York City and Westchester County, New York. She has directed musical theatre for the White River Valley Players, Little City Players and most recently for Middlebury Community Players in Vermont. She is Music Director for St Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury.
Susanne Peck has taught at the Horace Mann School, University of Massachusetts, Lehigh University, Jersey City State College and the Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale, New York. Since 2007, she is Affiliate Artist/Voice Teacher at Middlebury College in Vermont. |
