The Polish soprano, Magdalena Podkościelna, earned her Masterīs Degree in flute in Gdansk, Poland. She then went on to vocal training, pursuing here passion for singing as a soprano. Specialising in early music she has studied with Peter Kooy in The Hague, Emma Kirkby in London and Maria Cristina Kiehr at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She has participated in many international master-classes, including those at Austria Baroque Academy, Vantaa Barokki in Helsinki and Palazzo Ricci in Montepulciano which were led by Maria Cristina Kiehr, Susanne Rydén, Jill Feldman, Mieke van der Sluis, Monika Mauch, Nigel North, Hermann Max and Claudia Caffagni.
Magdalena Podkościelna has sung internationally with various musicians and ensembles including Jordi Savall/Le Concert des Nations, Philippe Herreweghe, Hermann Max, Roland Wilson, Ludger Rémy, Manfred Cordes/Weser Renaissance, Frieder Bernius, Claus Bantzer, Ensemble Amarcord, Isacco Colombo, Ensemble Collinetto, Ensemble Florilegio, Andreas Arend / Artemision Ensemble, Arte dei Suonatori, Arno Paduch, Lautten Compagney Berlin, Lorenz Duftschmid, Maurice van Lieshout / Bach-consort of Moscow and Les Enchantants / Klaus Westermann. She was also a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius).
Magdalena Podkościelna has been involved with various CD, radio, opera and TV productions as well as particpating in numerous musical festivals (Spain, Italy, Israel, Argentina, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Swiss, etc.). These include the Bachfest Leipzig, the Händel Festival in Halle, The Hague, Moscow, Venice, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Kloster Michaelstein, St. Michaelīs Church in Hamburg, Berliner Dom, Thomaskirche Leipzig, Gesellschaftshaus Magdeburg as well as "Trzy Baroki" in Wroclaw. She recorded Georg Philipp Telemann's "Kapitänsmusik 1724" with Ludger Rémy and the Telemannisches Collegium Michaelstein for CPO. In 2007 she performed in Brussels as a soloist of the Bach Academy of the Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe).
In 2003 Magdalena Podkościelna founded the Strozzi-Ensemble Hamburg, an ensemble performing vocal and instrumental Baroque music.
