The German conductor, Gerhard Polifka, began at 8 years his musical education at the piano. He attended the musical branch of Albertus-Gymnasiums Lauingen with special courses of piano and singing (Class of 2009). For many years he was a member of the Kammerchor Burgau, where he made the acquaintance of great choral works and oratorios. He also directed the affiliated Jugendchor. Since 2009, the musician studied at the HfM Würzburg: music education focusing choral conducting with Professor Jörg Straube and Thomas Posth and orchestral conducting with Wolfgang Kurz.
For several years Gerhard Polifka has been a member in the Audi Jugendchor-Akademie, where he already got to work with Ariel Zuckermann, Ulf Schirmer and Kent Nagano. It also included concert tours to Berlin and Rome. At the beginning of his studies of artists took over the direction of Abtswinder Frauenchores and was transitional vice choirmaster and vocal coach of the Valentin-Becker-Chores. Since September 2011 he has been conductor of the Grombühler Kammerorchesters.
His love for the works of J.S.Bach has brought Gerhard Polifka to his activity in the Bach-Kantaten-Club Würzburg expressed, of which he also is a founding member, and is dedicated with a special interest in historical performance practice. |
