The Russian contralto/mezzo-soprano, Elena Pozhidaeva [Pozhidayeva], studied singing with Marius van Altena at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She has obtained there diplomas in piano, choral conducting, Baroque solo and singing. She also attended master-classes with Evelyn Tubb, Anthony Rooley, Emma Kirkby and Jill Feldmann.
In Moscow Elena Pozhidaeva led the early music ensemble Argyshev Consort. In Europe she worked with Jos van Veldhoven, Daniel Reuss, Jean Tubéry, Gabriel Garrido, Bernard Tetu, Anthony Rooley, Leonardo García-Alarcón, Pratum Integrum Orchestra and Music Transparent. She made several CD's on labels such as Ricercar, Caro Mitis, Channel and Ambronay.
Since 1989, living in Moscow, Elena Pozhidaeva performed works by Antonio Vivaldi's Stabat Mater, Alessandro Scarlatti cantatas, George Frideric Handel's "Italian cantatas", "Italian duetts", J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), W.A. Mozart's Requiem with Academy of Ancient Music, Moscow Baroque, Telemann Concort, Lad in the Small and
Big Halls of Moscow Conservatory, Filarmony, St-Petersbourg Filarmony, Patriarch Palace of Kremlin. As a lieder and soloist, madrigalist of Argueshev Concort vocal ensemble she had performed various Renaissans and Baroque music programms (Gallus, Florencia, Dowland, Tallis, Antonio Lotti, Purcell, Heinrich Schütz, Steffani...). C. Monteverdi Il Ballo delle Ingrate at Bolshoy Theater, choreographie N. Kaidanovskaya. She recorded Concerts "Russian spiritual and secular music 12-18 centuries" (CD-Kolomenskoie). Premiere: Requiem by Vladimir Martinov with Academy of Ancient Music directed by T. Grindenko at Small Hall of Moscow Conservatory. Elena worked as a vocal teacher with rock singers and groups for preparation of CD recordings:

In 1997-2000 Elena Pozhidaeva performed at Ambronay Academy, C. Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Virgine directed by Gabriel Garrido; she sang Giya Kantchelly's Life without Christmas for 8 altos and orkestra, directed by Andrey Boreyko with Niew Simfonietta Amsterdam; she gave a solo aolo programm:"Renaissance songs" at the International festival in Riga (Pribaltik).
In 2003-2004 Elena Pozhidaeva performed "English and spanish Renaissance music" directed by Eric van Nevel with Currende at the Flanders Festival; C. Monteverdi's Lamento della Ninfa, C. Pari
Lamento d'Arianna directed by Anthony Rooley with Concort of Musicke England at Festival in Madrid. In 2004 she recorded D. Bortnianski's "Italian Album" directed by Pavel Serbin with Pratum Integrum (CD-Caro Mitis); this album was rated with four stars in Le Monde de la Musique. She sang C. Monteverdi's Sestina reg. Wouter van Looy with Transparant Theater at Festivals in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland). she recorded C. Monteverdi's Selva Morale et Spirituale directed by Gabriel Garrido with Elyma (CD Ambronay). In 2005 she sang the role of Speranza in C. Monteverdi;s L'Orfeo directed by Jean Tubéry with Les Agrémens at the Opéras Namur, Sens, Rennes; she sang Franz Liszt's Via Crucis directed by Bernard Tetu, with pianist Jean-Claude Pennetier and Les Solistes de Lyon; she recorded A. Charpentier Te Deum, Le Jugement de Salomon directed by Jean Tubéry with La Fenice and Les Agrémens (CD Ricercar); Orlando di Lasso's Magnum opus musicum directed by Jean Tubéry with Choeur de Chambre de Namur and La Fenice (CD Ricercar).
In 2006-2008 Elena Pozhidaeva e sang "Villa Vivaldi" at the Opera Houses of Antwerp, Gent, and on tour in Holland reg. Wouter van Looy and Transparant Theater, Belgium. She sang J.S. Bach's H-moll Messe (BWV 232) directed by Jos van Veldhoven with Soloists of
the Nederlandse Bachvereniging on CD Channel Classic, and on tour in USA. She sang Lieder by L. Schefer, F. Schubert with V. Sofronitzki (Hammerclavier); She appeared at Lausitzer Musiksommer festival, Germany. She sang in the Opera by Wolfgang Rihm Jakob Lenz directed by Alejo Perez, reg. Caroline Petrick with Transparant Theater at the Grand Operas of Brussels, Copenhagen, Luxemburg, Paris Opéra de Bastille. She sang George Frideric Handel's Oratorio Esther directed by Richard Egarr with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging.
In 2009 Elena Pozhidaeva sang at Opera Montpellier (choriste supplémentaire); in 2010 she recorded J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (CD Channel Classic). |
