The Catalan soprano, Maria Pujades Seguí, after graduating in Mathematics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (September 2006-February 2012), completed her studies in opera singing at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona (Class of 2016) under the guidance of the mezzo-soprano Mireia Pintó. In 2015 she was awarded scholarships by the foundations “Victoria de los Ángeles” and “BZM”. She then moved to Basel, where, under the tutelage of baritone Marcel Boone, she earned two Master of Arts degrees: in Music from the Hochschule für Musik Basel FHNW (2016-2018) and in Music Education from the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel (2018-2020). During that time, she also participated in master-classes with the sopranos Margreet Honig and Christine Schäfer.
In the operatic field Maria Pujades has interpreted Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Betly in (always Donizetti’s) homonymous work, Merlina in Cimarosa’s L’impresario in angustie and Titayna in Enric Morera’s homonymous work; worth mentioning are, as well, her appearances as a soloist in W.A. Mozart and Gabriel Fauré’s Requiems, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah and L.v. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Maria Pujades also has strong collaborations with many choirs, such as RIAS-Kammerchor (Current Director: Justin Doyle), Zürcher Sing-Akademie (Current Director: Florian Helgath) and Bach Collegium Barcelona (Director: Pau Jorquera). She currently lives in Basel, Switzerland. |
