The German organist, Martin Rost, studied from 1983 to 1989 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ in Leipzig, with Professor Wolfgang Schetelich, Professor Hannes Kästner and Professor Günter Kootz, among others. During his studies he was active as second organist at the Leipzig Gewandhaus.
From 1989 to 1997 Martin Rost served as organist at the concert hall "Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach" in Frankfurt/Oder. Since 1997 he serves as organist and Kantor at Marienkirche in Stralsund, where he initiated the "Friedrich-Stellwagen-Orgeltage ", held annually since 1998.
As an organ expert of the Pommerschen Evangelischen Kirche (Pomeranian Evangelical Church), Martin Rost is responsible for a wealth of historical instruments. A versatile concert career has led him to several important organs in several European countries and the USA. He has recorded numerous CD, radio and television recordings and published several academic articles on the history of organ building and organ music. In addition, he is a teacher at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Rostock. |
