The German conductor, Gordon Safari, studied organ and piano since early childhood. His studies comprise both, Conducting and Historic Musicology as well as Sacred Music (A-diploma) and Composition/Music Theory (Master‘s degree) at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen and the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (HMTM) in Hannover (2014). He received multiple awards as well as the Lower Saxony Culture Prize for his outstanding artistic achievements.
Gordon Safari can already look back on numerous concert activities as an organist and as a master of improvisation throughout Germany and Europe. As a conductor, he worked with the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Prussian Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra of the TFN.
In November 2014 Gordon Safari was appointed head of music for the diocese of the Protestant Church A.B. of Salzburg and the Tyrol/Austria. Through his founding of varied ensembles and initiation of a manifold series of concerts in the extremely active cultural life of the city of Salzburg, he has demonstrated his wide range of musical expertise and knowledge. BachWerkVokal Salzburg and Kontra.Punkt - Das Barockorchester were founded in 2015 and will be performing in particular the entire vocal works of J.S. Bach over the next years. Due to the especially high quality of these performances with creative and innovative concert concepts, he was not only able to successfully organize concerts in Salzburg in his first year, but he was also invited to perform at the Residenz and the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Neues Schloss in Stuttgart.
