Collegium Vocale Salzburg (Vocal Ensemble)

Founded: Salzburg, Austria

The Collegium Vocale Salzburg (= Collegium Vocale der Salzburger Bachgesellschaft) was founded by Albert Hartinger and is made up of students and graduates of the Universität Mozarteumr. It has been dedicated to the sacred and secular ensemble literature from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

The ensemble consists in its basic form from five to eight singers and is expanded as needed. A particular focus is the sacred music of W.A. Mozart. The Collegium Vocale Salzburg has, among other things with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Ensemble Baroque de Limoges (Director: Christophe Coin), Musica Antiqua Köln (Director: Reinhard Goebel), La Divina Armonia (Director: Lorenzo Ghielmi), L'Orfeo Barockorchester (Director: Michi Gaigg), Salzburger Barockensemble, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg and Ensemble Musica Sacraprofana, under such conductors as Christophe Coin, Jaap ter Linden, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Reinhard Goebel, Anthony Spiri, Sigiswald Kuijken and Michi Gaigg.

In addition to performances in Salzburg (Salzburger Bachgesellschaft, Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum, Mozartwoche Salzburg, Salzburger Festspiele, Pfingsten Barock), the Collegium Vocale Salzburg has sung in major music centers in Germany and abroad, including Berlin (Schauspielhaus), Amsterdam (Concertgebouw); has appeared at major festivals: Beethovenfest Bonn, Stauffener Musiksommer, Festival Alte Musik Utrecht, Semana Musica Religiosa Cuenca Spanien, Festival Due Organi, Milano; and has been invited to broadcast recordings at the ORF, WDR, RAI and BBC and TV recordings at ORF, ZDF and BBC.
