The German tenor, Michael Schaffrath, grew up in a musical family home. He was member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor under Martin Flämig. He obtained first degree in economics at the Technical University of Dresden, from 1996 to 2001 studies in the field of early music - singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy" in Leipzig.
In addition to solo appearances in the field of oratorio, Michael Schaffrath has participated in ensembles for Early Music (Lautten Compagney Berlin, Musicalische Compagney Berlin, Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble, Bläsercollegium Leipzig, Ensemble Alte Musik Dresden) and various choirs, including Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Rheinische Kantorei (Director: Hermann Max), Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), Tölzer Knabenchor. |
