Immo Schröder (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German tenor, Immo Schröder, studied first school music and viola at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, later singing with Professor Christian Vogel. He dedicated himself intensively to the Lieder singing and participated for this in master-classes with Thomas Quasthoff, Peter Schreier and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. His interest in the early music led him in 1998 to the Conservatoire of Amsterdam, where he continued his studies with Margreet Honig. Since 2001 he lives in Cologne.

As a soloist Immo Schröder works together with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven), Rheinische Kantorei (Director: Hermann Max) and the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra (Director: David Shemer). He is likewise a member of the ensemble Canto Rubino, with which he performs especially the music of Claudio Monteverdi. Among other things, he sang Marienvesper at the Festival of Ambronay under the direction of Gabriel Garrido. The oratorios and cantatas of J.S. Bach form another emphasis of his repertoire, with which he could have been heard at festivals in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Brussels, Boston, New York, and Abu-Gosh (Israel, 2006). However, his repertoire includes also works of various styles, such as W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Stabat Mater of J. Haydn, Igor Stravinsky's Cantata, Benjamin Britten's Serenade, as well as numerous works of contemporary composers. Currently he is occupied with the project "Winterreise-Klangspuren", with which he performs Franz Schubert's Winterreise together with three jazz musicians.
