The English tenor, Nicholas Scott, studied at Ampleforth College in York. He studied music at the The Royal Academy of Music (RAM), where he was awarded a Sir Elton John Scholarship and ABRSM Scholarship, achieving an undergraduate and postgraduate in singing (2011), studying with Mark Wildman.
Whilst at the RAM Nicholas Scott enjoyed a busy solo career on the concert platform of which highlights include the leading role in New Chamber Opera’s production of Arne’s The Judgement of Paris, Benjamin Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with the St Cecilia Orchestra in Ripon and J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 61 in Canterbury Cathedral. He also regularly performed as the tenor soloist in the Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Series at the Royal Academy of Music. He has performed Haydn's Creation in Guildford Cathedral and Haydn’s Missa Cellensis and George Frideric Handel's Foundling Hospital Anthem at Lichfield Cathedral. Nick has performed in The Victoria International Music Festival in Malta with The Maltese Philharmonic Orchestra and sung has W.A. Mozart's Requiem in St Martin in the Fields with the Brandenburg Sinfonia.
On the operatic platform roles include Castor in Castor et Pollux by Rameau with the Yorke Trust, and as the eponymous The Wandering Scholar by Gustav Holst and Don Basilio in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Lurcanio Ariodante under Jane Glover and the cover roles of Un suivant d’amour and Premier Parque in Glyndebourne Festival Opera's production of Rameau's Hippolyte et Aricie under William Christie. Other notable performances include G.F. Handel's Messiah at the Linder Auditorium, Johannesburg with the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra under Richard Cock, J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 61 and BWV 128 under Masaaki Suzuki.
Nicholas Scott is currently a member of Les Arts Florissants' young artist programme "Le Jardin des Voix". To date he has performed in such venues as Sydney Opera House, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Lincoln Centre New York City, Melbourne Recital Hall, Hong Kong City Hall, Lucerne Concert Hall and La Philharmonie de Paris 2. Its programme entitled "Un Jardin à l’Italienne" has been received with critical acclaim and was the winner of Best Chamber and Instrumental Ensemble Concert category at the 2015 Helpmann Awards in Australia.
Recent and future highlights see Nicholas Scott perform with Les Arts Florissants a programme of Purcell under Paul Agnew, as well as Filius in Filius Prodigus and Tiburtius in Caecilia virgo et martyr by Charpentier under William Christie, Coridon in Acis and Galatea with La Nuova Musica and David Bates (St John Smith Square), Evangelist in J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245) with the Israeli Vocal Ensembe and Rishon LeZion Symphony Orchestra, King Arthur for Zürich Opera and in Brisbane as well as a concert of motets by Bouteiller and Brossard entitled Maîtres du Motet Français with Les Arts Florissants. He currently lives in London, England.
Nicholas Scott has recently recorded the roles of St Pierre in Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Le Reniement de St. Pierre and the role of Issac in Le sacrifice d’Abraham for La Nuova Musica and Harmonia Mundi USA. |
