Collegium Musicum Seoul (= CMS; Korean: 콜레기움 무지쿰 서울)) commemorates the musical historical significance of 'Collegium Musicum', which Georg Philipp Telemann and J.S. Bach performed together in Leipzig, and as a period instrument performance group performing various composers' works mainly on instrumental music from the Baroque era. It was founded in 2016.
The highest level of education in Europe and America with world-class Baroque performers such as Ton Koopman, Jordi Savall, Masaaki Suzuki, William Christie, Sigiswald Kuijken, Ryo Terakado, Monica Huggett, Alfredo Bernardini, and W. Kuijken. Collegium Mujicum Seoul, composed of ancient instrument players of ‘Historical performance’ reconstructing from a perspective (Historically Informed Performance) in earnest. In addition, by expanding the performance of period instruments beyond Baroque music to Classical and Romantic music, the topic of 'historicist performance' is to be raised in the domestic music world.
Since its foundation, it has been performing in partnership with Collegium Vocale Seoul, a Baroque professional choir, and has been performing in partnership with Wonju Civic Chorale, Siheung City Choir, Gongju City Choir, Incheon City Choir, Gwangju City Choir, Asan City Choir, Anthem Coral; and J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria, Schubert's Mass, and W.A. Mozart's Requiem have been successfully performed. Recently, the ensemble recorded W.A. Mozart's Requiem with Collegium Vocale Seoul on Audioguy label and is about to release it, and it will create a fresh wind in the domestic music world in the future.
