Sibylle Suske (Soprano)

Born: November 21, 1932 - Krischütz, Silesia, Germany
Died: March 30, 2020 - Germany

The German soprano, Sibylle Suske, was born to Annelise and Gerhard Ramm in Krischütz and grew up in Görlitz, where she graduated in 1951 from the high school. She then studied for 5 years at the Musikhochschule Leipzig with a major in voice and piano. This was followed by the birth of her first three children, Cornelia, Conrad and Frank. So she paused for 8 years and then in 1963 took private singing lessons with Professor Rita Meinl-Weise. In 1964 she took part in the Bach-Wettbewerb (Bach Competition).

After obtaining her diploma, Sibylle Suske began to work as an oratorio and concert singer. Important stations were, for example, the Leipzig’s Thomaskirche, Berlin’s Marienkirche and Greifswalder Bachwoche. Concert tours have taken her to Austria, where she went as a soloist with the Leipziger Gewandhausquartett, and to West Germany, together with the Bachorchester des Leipziger Gewandhauses under the direction of Professor Gerhard Bosse. Due to family activities, arranging concerts and travelling was not always easy. International appearances took place in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Riga, Bratislava and Tokyo. There were also numerous recordings, for example, with the Rundfunksinfonieorchester Berlin. She sang until she was 65.

Sibylle Suske is married to Professor, with him she has 4 children: Cornelia (b 1957), Conrad (b 1958), Frank (b 1959) and Annegret (b 1970).
