The Oratorienchor der Stadt Wadern was founded in 1989 by Gerd Müller and currently consists of about 50 members from all over the northern Saarland coming together for music. The aim of the choir is to enrich the musical life and the Wadern city and Saarland with performances of sacred choral music. Their concerts have been attended regularly with enthusiasm by public and press alike. Particularly successful was the participation of the choir at the Musikfestspielen Saar 1995 (Edward Elgar), 1997 (Benedek Istvánffy) and 1999 (Haydn). These performances, as well as other concert recordings of the choir, including Haydn's Die Schöpfung, Schubert's Messe As-Dur, Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's Schöpfungsmesse, of which CD have been published.
