Andreas Wolf (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Germany

The German bass-baritone, Andreas Wolf [Wolff], recieved his first musical education at the special school for music Wernigerode, Germany between 1994 and 2002 where he has been a member of the renowned youth choir Rundfunk-Jugendchor Wernigerode. In 2002 he received a scholarship of the University of Music, Detmold and started his music studies with Professor Heiner Eckels. He has been invited to several master-classes with internationally acclaimed artists such as Thomas Quasthoff, András Schiff, Christoph Prégardien and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

Andreas Wolf's repertoire includes the major vocal works of J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Jephtha, the Requiem compositions by Johannes Brahms, W.A. Mozart and Gabriel Fauré as well as a vast variety of Lieder by Schubert, Wolf, J. Brahms, Robert Schumann and W.A. Mozart. He has already appeared in prestigious concert halls, theatres and churches, such as Konzerthaus in Berlin, Philharmonie in Essen, Maison de la Culture in Amiens, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Cathedral in St.Gallen and the newbuilt Frauenkirche in Dresden.

In 2007 Andreas Wolf celebrated his debut with Schubert‘s Winterreise ("Masterlike art of singing that touches."U.Gehre, German Press). So far he has sung in major Opera Productions of the Detmold Opera Studio including W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (Leporello), Puccini‘s La Bohème (Schaunard) and Georg Philipp Telemann's Pimpinone. He has worked with renowned conductors like Hans-Christoph Rademann, Atilio Cremonesi and Frieder Bernius.

In 2007 Andreas Wolf has been invited to the annual Opera Festival Aix-en- Provence, France where he gave his debut in Monteverdi's Orfeo (Pastor & Spirito) under the baton of René Jacobs. In 2008 he appeared at the Opera Festival in Aix-en-Provence as Nanni in Joseph Haydns L’infedelta delusa conducted by Jéremie Rohrer. He will participate to several revivals of the production in 2009 and 2010.

Between his future projects we cite: a tour in Israel, several projects with Andreas Spering, a cd recording with Harmonia Mundi and Andreas Scholl, a concert tour with Les Arts Florissants and William Christie in prestigious halls in Europe in Spring 2009.
