Cantata BWV 197 " Gott ist unsre Zuversicht" (God is our confidence) was composed by J.S. Bach for a wedding probably in 1736-1737, based on an earlier cantata for Christmas BWV 197a, which has only partly survived. This 2-part cantata is scored for soprano, alto & bass soloists; 4-part Chorus; and orchestra of 3 trumpets, timpani, 2 oboes, oboe d'amore, (2 transverse flutes), bassoons obbligato, 2 violins, viola continuo.
