The Swiss baritone, Fabrice Hayoz, studied singing at the Conservatoire of Fribourg with Marie-Françoise Schuwey, then with Scot Weir at the Musikhochschule in Zürich where he graduated in Lied and oratorio concerts. He also had the opportunity to study with Michel Brodard and Christoph Prégardien. He is currently perfecting his singing with Malcolm King in Paris and also in the Lied class with Hartmut Höll. Parallel to his studies, he took part in various master-classes, which allowed him to work especially with Kurt Widmer, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Margreet Honig and Anne Le Bozec.
As a chorister and soloist, Fabrice Hayoz finds his place in the Ensemble Orlando (director L. Gendre), L’Ensemble Vocal Séquence (director Laurent Gay), the Vokal Ensemble der Schola Seconda Pratica (director Rudolf Lutz) and the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne (conductor Michel Corboz). He has been heard in public in Solomon by George Frideric Handel, Charpentier's Te Deum, W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Haydn’s Paukenmesse, in Petite messe solennelle by Rossini and Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns. Monteverdi, Martin, Maurice Duruflé, Felix Mendelssohn and Gabriel Fauré are listed in his repertoire, which also includes J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and various cantatas and masses.
Fabrice Hayoz has participated as a soloist in musical venues such as Folles Journées de Nantes, Tokyo, Bilbao, Lisbon, the Pays de la Loire, Magic Mozart Moments Festival in Salzburg, the Festival de Musique Baroque de Lyon, the Heures musicales de Lessay, the Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, the Festival de musique sacrée de Saint-Malo, Les Nuits de la Citadelle de Sisteron, Rencontres musicales de Noirlac or the Nuits musicales d’Uzès. In Switzerland he has been heard in Les Concerts J.S. Bach de Lutry but also at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, at the Auditorium Stravinsky in Montreux, Casino in Bern, the Église Leonhardt in Basel, the Église St. Johann in Schaffhouse, the Tonhalle in St. Gallen, Zürich, at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano on a tour of G.F. Handel's Solomon conducted by Rudolf Lutz. He also gives various recitals including Dichterliebe by Robert Schumann or la Bonne Chanson by Gabriel Fauré at the Tonhalle in Zürich.
Fabrice Hayoz involved since 2007 in recording the complete vocal works of J.S. Bach, with the Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (formerly: Vokal- und Instrumentalensemble der Schola Seconda Pratica), conducted by Rudolf Lutz in Trogen. He can also be heard in G.F. Handel's Dixit Dominus, Haydn's Nelsonmesse, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach, F. Mendelssohn's Paulus and in Schubert's Schöne Müllerin.
A winner of 2006 Fonds Pierre et Renée Glasson, Fabrice Hayoz teaches at the Conservatoire of Fribourg since 2008. |
