The Austyrian conductor, Stephan Höllwerth. received lessons in violin, piano, music theory and ensemble directing; then completed a degree in conducting at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and a dissertation at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg with distinction.
Stephan Höllwerth was the orchestra conductor on the podium of the RSO Wien, Pro Arte Orchesters Wien, Bad Reichenhaller Philharmonie, Westdeutschen Sinfonieorchesters Böhlen, Halleiner Chamber Orchestra, Halleiner Kammerorchesters, Negaunee High School Orchestra. From 2009 to 2011 he was the Musical Director of the Kammerorchesters des Musikum Salzburg. Since 2012 he has directed the Musiziergemeinschaft Hopferwieser (since 2018 as the "Generationenorchester" Musikum) and the Diabelli-Orchester des Musikum Seekirchen.
Stephan Höllwerth worked as choir director with the Jeunessechor Wien and with the Chorus Andrae Salzburg. He also worked with the ensembles Coro per sono, Cantus Amabilis and Visionvokal. Since 2005 he has been the Musical Director of the Chores der Musikfreunde Laufen. He has been the Musical Director of the Kammerchor Salzburg since 2019. He is a co-initiator of the Internationalen Bruckner-Tage Laufen 2019. At the center of his choral work is the connection between old and new music and the performance of works on the edge of the standard repertoire.
At the Am Theater an der Rott/Eggenfelden, Stephan Höllwerth was engaged as Korrepetitor and Kapellmeister in the 2004-2005 season. He also assisted vocal teachers like Cornelia Prestel and Grace Bumbry. He performed regularly with choirs such as the Salzburger Bachchor (2004-2009), Domkantorei St. Pölten and Cappella Nova Graz.
Lectureships have taken Stephan Höllwerth to Salzburg College (Korrepetition and conducting) and, since 2006, to the Musikum Salzburg (music theory, musical composition, ear training and orchestral conducting). As a music critic, he worked for the Salzburger Nachrichten und die Salzburger Volkszeitung for several years. He gave lectures at conferences of the Gesellschaft für Musikforschung in Deutschland (Rheinsberg, Würzburg), at the Akademie für musikalische Bildung in Karlsruhe and at the Universitá Santa Croce in Rome. He gave introductory lectures on opera performances for the Salzburger Festspiele and has been responsible for the subscription concerts and Mozart-Tage of the Bad Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker since 2015.
Stephan Höllwerth worked organisationally with the Musikalischen Jugend Österreich and as an assistant with the Junge Österreichische Philharmonie and the Wiener Jeunesse Chor. At the Österreichischen Rundfunk, he has regularly taken on the responsibilities of recording management and program design since 2006. In the association "BarockPur!" he was responsible for a board function for several years and was co-initiator of the concert series " Europäische Barockmusik in the Sacellum der Universität Salzburg. |
