The German soprano, Anna-Maria Palii, began with piano, violin and singing lessons at an early age. She studied pedagogy, psychology and music education at the University of Bamberg (2009-2012), before studying in Elena Pankratova’s singing class at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Graz (Class of 2016). She graduated with honours in 2018 and continued her education at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Munich with Christiane Iven (October 2018-July 2019). She has been inspired by her associations with Julie Kaufmann and Edith Wiens and has attended master-classes with Thomas Hampson, Thomas Quasthoff, Jan Philip Schulze, Robert Holl, Joshua Rifkin, Brigitte Fassbaender, Hedwig Fassbender, James Baillieu and Caroline Dowdle. She is a Britten-Pears Young Artist and a fellow of the Rotary Club, the Irmler Foundation of the University of Bamberg, the Bavarian Singing Academy, the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in Helsinki and the Verbier Festival Academy. She has twice received scholarships from the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Graz.
Anna-Maria Palii has been active as an opera and concert singer since May 2016. She has appeared in roles such as Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Lucy in The Telephone and Flora in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw at MUMUTH in Graz, as well as appearing as the Fifth Maid in Elektra at the Verbier Festival and Ännchen in Der Freischütz) for the Ring Award in Graz.
Anna-Maria Palii's concert repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the present day and she has appeared at the Handel Festival in Halle (Saale), the Herkulessaal in Munich, the MelosLogos Festival in Weimar, the Styriarte and Impuls Festivals in Graz, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Arnold Schoenberg Center in Vienna and the Musiikkitalo - The Helsinki Music Centre. She has worked with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester, Concerto Köln, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, Münchener Kammerorchester and Munich Radio Orchestra, as well as with conductors such as Peter Dijkstra, Bernhard Steiner, Yuval Weinberg, Wolfgang Wengenroth, Johannes Prinz, Howard Arman, Matthias Pintscher, Emilio Pomàrico and Esa-Pekka Salonen. She became a soprano with the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks in 2016. She currenly lives in Munich. |
