After completing her studies at the University of Music in Detmold (Germany) in the classes of Professor Sabine Ritterbusch and Hans-Peter Bendt, the young talented singer Theresa Sommer from Göttingen continued with private voice training by Susanne Eisch, a vocal coach from Minden (Germany). Moreover, Professor Eugene Rabine, voice researcher, professor for singing and former opera singer, was an important source of inspiration for her creative development. Theresa Sommer continually expands her artistic skills in various master-classes e.g. by Will Humburg, Professor Maria Kowollik and Professor Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender.
In 2009, Theresa Sommer gained experiences in the opera genre, when she sang the Musetta in Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème with the Philharmonie Südwestfalen under the direction of Karl-Heinz Bloemeke and in the same year the first page (dt. Erster Edelknabe) in Richard Wagner's Lohengrin with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie under the directon of Frank Beermann. As part of her studies, the soprano also sang the Corinna in Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims at the Landestheater Detmold in 2010. After completing her studies, she guested as sandman and dewman in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel at the Theater in Bielefeld. From 2012 to 2014, the Chamber Opera Hamburg engaged her as Nedda, the female lead in Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci (dt. Der Bajazzo). During this time, she also gave her highly praised debut as Donna Anna in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at Wernigeröder Schlossfestspiele 2013.
Theresa Sommer is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association and can also be regularly heard as concert and lied singer with standard works in the North German area. Being a highly-committed professional, she is continuously developing her singing skills, her repertoire and her artistic personality. Her musical partners so far include: the Göttingen Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Christoph-Mathias Mueller and the Westdeutsche Philharmonie.
The 2016-2017 season highlights of the soprano Theresa Sommer include her role debuts as Donna Elvira in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni as well as Saffi in the Operetta The Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss. For both parts, with which she expanded her repertoire by important Soprano roles of the popular operatic repertoire, she was engaged by the Landesbühne Theater für Niedersachsen (State theater of Lower Saxony) in Hildesheim (Germany). |
