Christian Walter (Bass)

Born: Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The German bass, Christian Walter, studied first in Dortmund music and English of teaching and then vocal education at the Robert-Schumann-Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf in the classes of Christian Schotenröhr and Werner Lechte. Further studies followed with Lia Montoya Palmen. This was followed by engagements at the Städtischen Bühnen in Münster, Dortmund und Frankfurt.

Christian Walter's soloistic spectrum ranges from early music to contemporary works. The specific requirements of contemporary opera literature also make him a popular ensemble singer in this genre. So he worked with ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath) in Heiner Goebbel's staging of Louis Andriessen's De Materie in New York (2016) and most recently at the Stadttheater Dortmund in the highly acclaimed performance of Philip Glass' Einstein on the Beach (2017). He is a regular guest in various professional choirs, including the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering), and works with well-known conductors. This work is documented with numerous CD recordings and radio recordings.

Christian Walter also teaches singing at the TU Dortmund.

Comment:
