David Rabinovich (Violin) |
Born: November 10, 1959 - Ukraine, former USSR |
The Ukrainian-born violinist, David Rabinovich, studied violin in the class of Zahar Bron at the Glinka Conservatory in Novosibirsk. After completing his studies in 1978, he became Bron's assistant and a permanent member with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra and the Novosibirsk Opera Orchestra. From 1994 to 2000 he, studied Baroque violin at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague at the Early Music department with Sigiswald Kuijken and Elizabeth Wallfisch. He studied conducting in London with Niel Thomson and John Farr and at the Peter the Great Music Academy in St. Petersburg with Jonathan Brett.
The range of David Rabinovich's activities is both diverse and international. He has performed and recorded across Europe, America and Asia. He is a violinist in several prestigious Baroque orchestras, such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra (Director: Ton Koopman; since December 1999), Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Le Champs-Elysees, Anima Eterna, and The King's Consort (Director: Robert King), Les Arts Florissants (Director: William Christie). The conductors he has worked with include John Butt, William Christie, Mark Elder, Philippe Herreweghe, Vladimir Jurowski, Ton Koopman, Gustav Leonhardt, Roger Norrington, Simon Rattle. Ton Koopman often invites Rabinovich to his orchestra as leader of the second violin section or as participant in his chamber music programs.
David Rabinovich is very passionate about chamber music, the most intense form of ensemble playing and musical interaction. Leading a chamber music ensemble without a conductor is only one of his many talents. He is co-founder (January 2000) and Aristic Leader of the Apollo Ensemble from Amsterdam. Under his guidance the Apollo Ensemble has developed into a top rate ensemble with a clear vision of its own. He is also the Artistic Director of the International Music Festival “Travelling in Baroque.” His longstanding experience as solo player, artistic leader and concert-master makes him a frequently invited guest-musician to give master-classes, lead projects or coach ensembles.
David Rabinovich's music can be enjoyed from countless CD-, radio- and DVD recordings, among which the complete J.S. Bach cantatas, the suites, Fontana's sonatas and J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, on various labels. |
