Co-production with Deutsche Grammophon; Recording Supervision: Wolfgang Lohse.
Comment by Matthias Hansen (June 2018):
In the soprano aria of BWV 36c Hans Drechsel (who participated in the 1954 recording of Johannes-Passion with Günther Ramin) played the viola d'amore, but the recording was not released for artistic reasons. Only on December 10, 1963, a dubbing took place with Dietmar Hallmann, the longtime first solo violist of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the viola d'amore part was re-recorded. Whether the part of voice and basso continuo was re-recorded or the material from the 1960 recording was re-used is not known.
