Matthäus-Passion BWV 244
Conducted by Pieter Jan Leusink |
Leusink recordings MP's |
Pieter Pannevis wrote (March 13, 2001):
In April the Leusink group is performing the MP In Nijkerk, Holland my home town; if there is anyone who likes to have a signed CD of him, please notify me. (I know the music is more important than the signature, but just in case. I’ll try to make some photographs (without flash) |
Pieter Pannevis wrote (March 23, 2001):
Due to the impeccable services of the secretary to the Holland Boys Choir I can announce that the new Mp under Leusink is available and I've got some sets with the autograph of Leusink himself. I've some to spare so just mail me off-list if you are interested. Not members here in Holland for they can get them themselves joining the "friends of the Choir" and asking the secretary Christine Schreuder.(0525 684819 or fax 0525 680618) Join their club for they can have all the support they need! One MP is for a special- and well-known- friend in the USA with much bad news, may he recover and find his new life again and take courage !! |

New SMP by Leusink |
Paul Dirmeikis wrote (February 5, 2005):
I saw on the Holland Boys Choir's web site: (http://www.hollandboyschoir.com/nl/nl-index.htm) ) that a new SMP recording conducted by Pieter Jan Leusink has been released. It's a DVD + 2 CD Special Edition set, with an attractive price (24,90 euros). Did anyone on the lalready have the opportunity to listen to it ? (I ordered it through their web site, but as I can't read Dutch, I'm not sure I understood everything, especially concerning the payment...). His previous version (2001) is not among my highlights (because of the countertenor Sytse Buwalda, and his strange whining timbre, most of the alto arias are nearly painful to listen to, IMO) but there are some quite beautiful moments ("Aus Liebe...", and most of the choral parts). This new recording fits on 2 CDs which seems to tell that Leusink changed his tempi... |
Johan van Veen wrote (February 5, 2005):
[To Paul Dirmeikis] Didn't you notice, then, that this new version is also with Sytze Buwalda?
BTW, I haven't heard/seen it, if only because I don't have a DVD player. But on the basis of what I have heard from this choir recently I'm rather sceptical about the performance. |
Paul Dirmeikis wrote (February 5, 2005):
[To Johan van Veen] Yes I did, but I always hope that things can change, and that anyone can improve. I'm a teacher, so it has to be my Credo. |
